Do you know where your coconut products come from?
Producers Market producer and partner Franklin Baker Company took the time to answer our questions about coconut production on their plantations in the Philippines:
“Coconut trees are quite unique, because they are the only plantation crop to give harvest 8 times a year—or every 45 days. The trees receive minimal care (or sometimes none at all), and it’s mostly limited to clearing or weeding for ease of harvesting. Because coconut trees are almost self-sustaining, their cultivation has little to no impact on the surrounding culture.” — Product Marketing Manager, Peter Kamen
