Digitizing the Value Chain

Newsletter: Digitizing the Value Chain

Posted July 26, 2019

Dear Producers Market Community

In our last newsletter, we explained why it’s of the utmost importance to #knowyoursource. We are committed to empowering farmers, makers, sellers, consumers, and everyone in between with greater access to information. We are passionate about bringing traceability, transparency, and integrity to the agricultural value chain.

But how are we going to do that?

That’s where digitization comes in. This is our vision:

  • One interoperable platform. A marketplace application connecting buyers and sellers with a complete ecosystem for farmers, agricultural producers, and aggregators. (This includes marketing, sales, finance, insurance, logistics, traceability, and more.)
  • Source authentication. Pioneering the integration of validated distributed ledger accounting methods, profiles, reviews, and geo-location technology into the agricultural value chain.
  • Trade with trust. Using smart contracts and accounting to facilitate credible transactions—without third parties.
  • Authentic storytelling. Empowering farmers, makers, sellers, and consumers with greater visibility and access to meaningful value chain data.

It’s not a dream, because we’re doing it. We are digitizing the agricultural value chain, and we deeply value your support and trust as we develop this innovative system.

UN Roundtable

United Nations Roundtable

Our CEO, Keith Agoada, had the opportunity to speak at the UN Headquarters earlier this month as part of a roundtable discussion on digital technology in sustainable smart agriculture. This gathering was organized in honor of the 44th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States.

We look forward to collaborating with key stakeholders in West Africa’s agricultural industry to explore how Producers Market can help unlock the region’s potential.

Vanilla pods

The True Value of Vanilla

Cultivation of this indispensable spice is surprisingly difficult, which explains its high cost, second only to saffron. Since its natural pollinators only thrive in their native home of Mexico, most vanilla cultivated elsewhere in the world must be painstakingly pollinated by hand.

It’s worth knowing where and how our key ingredients like vanilla are grown. Knowledge is a secret ingredient every bit as valuable—and delicious—as any spice.

Michoacan Organics

Michoacan Organics

Love avocados? So do we! Producers Market producer Michoacan Organics grows some of the best we’ve ever tasted.

This farmer-owned avocado brand was founded by Leonel Chavez, who has been a pioneer in organic avocado production in Mexico for 20+ years. Leonel's "Farming for Life" approach to agriculture business has guided the brand to where it is today.

Farming for Life is about living with nature and providing a habitat for all forms of life. It's about using everything available on the farm property to create rich soil and amazing fruit that nourishes the mind, body, and soul.

At Producers Market, we believe it’s critical to #knowyoursource and #knowyourfarmer. Follow us on Instagram or check out our website to learn more about our growing platform.
