Organic is a widespread and common certification for producers of organic food and agricultural products. Certified organic products are those which have been produced, stored, processed, handled, and marketed in accordance with specific standards labeled as organic by a certification body. This label applies to the production process, not the quality of the product.

The main requirements for an organic certification generally include the avoidance of synthetic chemical inputs (such as fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, and food additives), irradiation, and genetically modified organisms; and specific requirements for feed, housing, and breeding of livestock.
