Our Story
Originally a denuded, arid piece of land, Tikkun is currently 7.5 acres of green buildings, organic gardens, a food forest, and fish ponds.
We founded Tikkun twelve years ago as a small-scale permaculture project on five acres of depleted, semi-arid land with only a few scrub trees and cacti. We’ve since purchased 2.5 more contiguous acres. In the early years, we had few resources to invest in regenerating the land and focused on establishing the green building sites. Most of our intensive planting and earthworks have taken place since 2016.
The growth and healing of the land have been remarkable in such a short time, a testament to what we can do when we invest our shared resources. Through soil restoration, reforestation, water harvesting, ecosystem development, and organic gardens,...
Mission Statement
Our goal is to demonstrate and promote scaleable permaculture systems that can impact the health of our community and provide real solutions for the crises of climate change, drought, food insecurity, and ecological collapse.
